Gay Clubbing In Manila

For most tourists, Manila would just be the jump off to the more popular destinations like Palawan, Boracay and Cebu.  But to get a feel of the country's Gay Scene, make sure to plan an evening in Manila for at least one night on the weekend.

Unlike 10 years ago where we have a dedicated area for Gay Clubs in Malate, these establishments are now scattered on different parts of Metro Manila.  This is mainly attributed to the decentralisation of the working class with the development of Business Districts outside of the City of Manila.

The only establishment that remains in the old district is Chelu.  The club still entertains the crowd with Drag Performances and spinning DJ's.  Its frequented by its loyal followers, but a significant decline of patrons is evident even on weekends.

The latest addition to the Gay Club Scene is strategically located within Bonifacio Global City.  Nectar Nightclub is within the Fort Strip complex alongside restaurants and straight bars.  Nectar is known for their themed nights and the place can get crowded on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Drag Queens and Go Go Boys perform on weekends gyrating to the music provided the country's best DJ's.

The most popular of the clubs would be O Bar located in Pasig City.  O Bar traces its root as one of the pioneers of Malate before moving to its new location within the compounds of Ortigas Home Depot.  The main crowd drawer of the club would be the entertainment provided by the O Divas and the sexy ledge dancers.  A curated drag theme show on Saturdays is staged weekly, but they perform 2-3 sets a night from Thursday to Sunday.

There are other night spots attracting different type of crowd like Apollo, White Bird, Rupture and others, but the most worthy spot for us would still be O Bar based on the quality of entertainment, price and the crowd it attracts.
